Free Aspect Workflows for Open Source

At Aspect, open source is in our DNA. From day one, we've built tooling with and for the Bazel community. We’re passionate about helping open source projects ship faster and with higher quality.

Today, we’re excited to offer Aspect Workflows free for a limited number of open-source projects.

Try Our CI/CD Platform—Built for Bazel, Ready to support OSS

Aspect Workflows provides a modern CI/CD experience powered by Buildkite—the same engine we use to run our own projects. It also supports other CI systems like CircleCI and GitHub Actions, so you can integrate with the workflows you already use.

We’ve already been dogfooding this setup with our own bazel-examples repo and many of our Bazel rulesets—including several in the bazel-contrib GitHub org, such as rules_oci. The Buildbarn project is also on board, using it for their bb-storage CI. You can see the full list at https://buildkite.com/aspect-build.

A Few Things to Know

This program runs in a shared (co-tenant) environment with other open-source workloads, which makes it ideal for public projects but not suitable for confidential code. There’s no formal SLA, and because open-source workloads are often idle and Workflows scales down to zero, it can sometimes take a couple of minutes for new machines to spin up. But once your build kicks off, it’s fast and smooth. ⚡️
